What is Kernel?

Kernel is open-source cloud browser infrastructure designed for AI agents and web automations. It spins up sandboxed cloud browsers in under 30 milliseconds and exposes them over Playwright, Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP), Computer Use, and WebDriver BiDi. Trusted by Cash App, Framer, and over 3,000 teams.

Key capabilities:

  • Sub-30ms browser spin-up via a global browser pool
  • Stealth mode to reduce bot detection fingerprinting
  • Managed Auth to handle login sessions across runs
  • Live view and MP4 recording for observability and replay
  • Serverless agent deployment via kernel deploy (the CLI ships a full app platform)
  • Proxy support covering datacenter, ISP, residential, and mobile proxies
  • MCP server so agents using the Model Context Protocol can control browsers directly
